ABOUT OUR SAXOPHONE LESSONS
The Powell Academy of Music provides the best saxophone lessons in Powell, Ohio through fun and engaging private instruction. Lessons are tailored to meet the needs of each individual student. We recommend that saxophone students be 8 years old or older. Earlier than age 8, most students do not have the lung capacity and strength to handle the instrument.
Saxophone students can learn a variety of styles. Many of our saxophone students work on music that they are learning in school, which means everything from jazz band, concert band, and solo & ensemble. Others work with their instructor to select music that they are interested in learning. Out teachers work to find a balance between standard repertoire and fun music.

What do you learn in your saxophone lessons?
In saxophone lessons, students will learn the fundamentals: proper embouchure, theory, technique, sight reading, and improvisation ,in addition to selecting music of their choice. We understand that every student is unique and has different goals. Whether you want to get a jump start on your concert band music or learn how a solo for jazz band, our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your musical interests.
Are your instructors qualified?
Our instructors are highly qualified, holding either a degree in music or very extensive performance and playing ability. For our degreed teachers, they have received their education from prestigious institutions such as the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, The Berklee College of Music, Oberlin College and Conservatory, The Ohio State University, Capital University, and many others. For our instructors with extensive or exceptional performing ability, they are thoroughly vetted by our school owner, Chad Ebert.
In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and dedicated to teaching you the style of music that you want to learn in your music lessons.
Do you give student recitals?
Yes, we offer two recitals per year, complete with professionally printed programs and red-carpet recital photos printed for you at no cost.
